Following a recent increase in garage and shed break‑ins in the local area, some successful, some not, we are encouraging residents to take a few simple but effective steps to reduce the risk of becoming a victim. Outbuildings are often targeted as they may be less secure and can contain valuable items or tools. Please consider the following crime prevention advice and share it with neighbours where possible:
Ensure garages and sheds are fitted with strong, lockable doors and use robust, good‑quality padlocks or mortice locks.
Keep doors and windows closed and locked at all times, even if you are only away for a short period.
Consider Ring Doorbells/CCTV cameras that cover your property.
Avoid leaving tools, bicycles or high‑value items on display; consider securing items to an immovable object inside.

Improve visibility around garages and sheds by fitting motion‑sensor lighting and trimming back hedges or fencing.
Consider fitting a shed alarm or linking outbuildings into your existing home security system where possible.
